Blank Canvas to Beautiful Garden

  • Client Residential
  • Type Garden Design
  • Size 2200 m2

This large, long, rectangular garden was literally a blank canvas when we were brought in to do the garden design. When the house had been built, the original owners had done nothing with the garden. The new owners were keen to get the space made into a gorgeous garden and enjoy the breathtaking views of the South Downs.

The brief included a large lawn, a pond, growing areas, and a secret garden. When looking through books we could tell the client loved curves, so that was were the garden design started.

Stage one of the build included a large formal lawn sited off the existing decking, bounded by large borders filled wih prairie style plants. A large contemporary circular pond with curved decking was sited towards the middle of the garden, bound on each side with shrubs, chosen for year round interest.

Stage two will include  the formal kitchen garden, and the secret garden that can only be accessed via a small path running through the shrub border.

Not only have the clients enjoyed the garden but local Greater Crested Newts have already moved in, mated and young are now enjoying the pond!
