Alitura was formed by us, Ness Simon and Bo Cook.

We met while studying for an FdA in Garden Design at Plumpton College. Having both coming from similar backgrounds and having similar interests we developed a strong friendship and a good working relationship.

While working at a respected garden design studio, we came up with the bright idea of setting up a partnership together and so Alitura was formed.

By combining our love of good design, technical expertise and our appreciation and understanding of plants, we are able to create beautiful outdoor spaces for our clients to appreciate and enjoy. Our projects have included complete re-designs and planting plans for private clients, community allotments and gardens, and border-redesign and planting plans for pubs.

The Environment

Alitura Landscape and Garden Design believe that designing with the environment in mind is of upmost importance. Where possible we reuse existing materials and plants within our designs. We source local materials where available, and also support local suppliers and contractors.

Our planting designs consider our future climate, which may include drought resistant planting, or the incorporation of rainwater harvesting systems. The encouragement of wildlife is also important; we support this with plant choice, and enhance existing habitats as well as creating new.

While developing the partnership, Ness successfully applied for a Historic and Botanic Gardens Bursary Scheme and carried out a one year traineeship at a National Trust garden where she was able to develop her planting design skills and build on her horticultural knowledge. Currently three of her projects exist on the estate and she still continues to have links with the garden.

Bo

Since graduating Bo gained extensive experience contracting to various design studios using her technical drawing skills and design knowledge. Here she was able to develop her garden design and project management expertise that have given her a sound knowledgebase of the design industry. Her skills are still sought after and she also now trains other designers in computer aided design (CAD software).

The design work was to a high standard… and a high level of professionalism and commitment was maintained (while project managing the build] with several changes being dealt with efficiently and competently.
